The Martians have left (ask your children!) and we should expect our formal report within the next two or three weeks. However, rather than make you wait that long for an idea of what happened, I thought I would write an informal letter based on the debriefing that we had yesterday.
In all of the headline judgements the school has come out as a 2 which is classified as good. (1 is outstanding and 3 is satisfactory). In the underlying judgements for each headline judgements, many of them were very complimentary and listening to the inspectors in their final meeting, they considered the ‘outstanding' criteria. Our three key issues are likely to be targeting coordinators' planning to further meet the needs of individuals and groups; the governors to take a more active role in strategic planning and the further development of writing at the highest levels.
They were really taken with your children, their behaviour, their willingness to speak out for themselves, the way that they look out for each other, the way that many children help and organise things for others, their willingness to be honest about our school. They told the inspectors that we do have children who displayed bullying type behaviours at times, but they also told them that they trusted us to try to sort it out. In fact the inspectors said that it was the first inspection that any of them had done where the parents' questionnaires, the children's questionnaires and the discussions with the children themselves had all produced a 100% positive response to the section about how well we look after your children (Care, Guidance and Support). As a staff we find that level of support very humbling. Thank you.
As soon as we have the final draft of the report, I will arrange for a copy to be sent to everyone. Then once we have a plan about how we will deal with the outcomes, I will share that as well.
