What are Extended Services?

Extended Services through schools are at the heart of the governments Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda raising standards and ensuring that children:

•·         Are healthy

•·         Stay safe

•·         Enjoy and achieve

•·         Make a positive contribution

•·         Achieve economic well-being

An extended school provides a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day to help meet the needs of children, their families and the wider community. The government has made a commitment that by 2010 every school will provide access to the following services:

  • A varied menu of activities
  • Access to quality childcare through primary schools
  • Community access to facilities
  • Swift and easy access to specialised support
  • Parenting support

More information is available at www.warwickshire.gov.uk

Each Cluster of schools across Rugby has their own  Extended Services Cluster Coordinator (ESCC) , who will work with the local authority, other schools and many organisations to offer access to a wide range of services and activities which support and motivate children and young people to achieve their full potential.

Abbots Farm Junior School and the other Schools in the Hillmorton Cluster are working hard to ensure that all parent s and children have access to Extended Services. Whilst your school cannot offer everything on site this website aims to sign post you to the nearest place where the service is available to you, which may be another school in the area.

Who is your Extended Services Co-ordinator and how can you contact her?

Jo Fricker, is responsible for the Hillmorton Cluster of schools and if you need to contact her to discuss any of these services she will be happy to hear from you:-
