May Newsletter

Annual reading and spelling tests are being carried out this week. SAT's and other year group testing will take place starting on Monday 10th May. We use the results of these tests for tracking the progress of our children through the school. Later in the term, teachers will meet and use the results of these tests plus notes from class activities to plan the children's targets for next year.

Watch out for photographs of Year 6, getting up to mischief, at Manor Adventure near Ludlow during the week of Monday 17th May. We are hoping to be able to update our website from there so that everyone at school can keep a track of our activities. A lot of our other school activities, prize winners, etc. are put on our website. If you haven't visited it recently please do so. The address is above. We put photos onto the website which you can download if you wish. There is also a lot of curriculum information there as well.  This year we will also be uploading to the Learning Platform as well.

After the success of our recent whole school ‘Bake and Share' event we have decided that we would like to run further events by individual classes instead.  Beginning the week of the 17th May each class will be allocated their week for baking and sharing their cakes and biscuits. Parents of the class will be invited to attend and there will also be drinks available.  Any profits raised will go towards purchasing something special for their own class.  You will receive an invitation for your class coffee shop nearer the time.

‘Warwickshire Walk to School Week' is the week of the 17th May. Again, we have a very high instance of children arriving at school by car compared with other schools in the County, so we are supporting this. Even if you can't walk all the way from home, what about setting out a little earlier and parking away from the school and walking in from there? We call this "Park and Stride".

Now that the weather is improving can we remind parents to ensure the children have a water bottle in school and if needed, sun cream is applied before school.  Sunhats are also useful for lunchtime.

Half term is the week of 31st May, so the children will break at 3.30pm on Friday 28th May and will return on Monday 7th June.

If anyone still has any vouchers at home, we are due to send them off soon and would be very grateful if they could be sent in to please.
